
Suspense To me suspense means when for example a film or a play keeps you on the edge of your seat, makes you want to know what happens next and causes tension. Suspense is the perception of the audience and you can cause tension by dramatic music, the dialogue and the setting and lighting which leads up to a dramatic scene or moment.
Thriller
Thriller is a type of genre that is used in films to create a theme for the movie. There are many different types of thrillers such as Action Thriller, Spy Thriller and a Disaster Thriller. These types show who the Antagonist and who is the Protagonist. In the action thriller it is obvious who the villain is and the disaster thriller there is either a group or one person trying to save the world. We enjoy thrillers because it keeps us, the audience in suspense and want to know whats there motive and who or if anyone survives.
In thrillers there is lots of jump cutting, cliff hangers and the classic conflict between the villain and hero. Example of movies which are thrillers is Saw, Scream and Mission impossible.
Thriller sub genres
Thrillers have many sub genres such as Action thriller, Political thriller, Spy thriller or a Comedy thriller.
Action Thrillers: an example of an action thriller is James Bond, this sort of thriller is racing against the clock where there is lots of action and violence with an obvious antagonist and protagonist.
Political Thrillers: is for example The Da Vinci code. Political thrillers often contain political scenario which someone wants to be in power while someone is trying to stop them. Or even the government going through a political struggle.
Spy Thrillers: like Mission Impossible have got to do with detectives and the police trying to discover or prevent something bad from happening. for example the protagonist trying to stop the antagonist.
Comedy Thrillers: for example Scary movie a spin off of Scream is an example of a comedy thriller as is contains many funny moments but has scary and suspenseful moments in it.
