In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media product?
Our thriller is called Door 29, we got the idea of this title from our team mates house number which is 29, and is also were one of the locations is. The other location we used was Mile End park in East London where we shot the lady running. We got our inspiration from the film Marathon Man which was realised in 1976. Whilst filming we used a lot of media software and equipment such as......
Camera:
We used the camera of course to film our thriller, and we used a variety of shots such as long shot, close up, low angle shot, pan and a tracking shot all in which went well with our thriller as we tried to make the runner look innocent and the man as sort or ordinary but mysterious.
Final cut pro:
We used Final cut pro to edit our film which we uploaded from our memory card on to the hard drive then on to the computer. Whilst editing we were able to shorten clips to were we wanted them and take bits out of each clip and place it onto our time line. Also we used transitions and placed it in between clips to show the change between each clip, for example fade In's and outs to keep the scene flowing. Because we was influenced by the film Marathon Man we cross cut ted each scene between the lady running in the park and the man in the house.
Live Type:
We used Live Type to make our credits, on this we wrote the Editor, Staring, Director, Music Composer and our Title. On Live Type we used bold white letters as the stand out and is more suited for a thriller. We didn't use our own names as we felt that made up names sounded more professional.
Sound track:
On sound track we tried a range of sounds to suit our thriller. With the runner we used breathing sound and also the sound of a heart beat to suit her running, also we used a calming sound to show her innocence . We increased the sound to add suspense and build tension as the scene comes to an end which indicates something is going to happen. Also in the house scene there is a increased sound of the letter going though the box and the knock on the door. We didn't used any dialogue as we felt that no dialogue would create more tension and suspicion.
How does you media product represent particular social groups?
In the opening of our thriller of Door 29, there are two characters. Toby who is playing the runner and Jevoney who is the person in the house. Both characters are of the afro Caribbean origin, and the setting is in
Ways in which they are similar is that they both look normal, like, they are going on with there daily routine as Toby is peacefully jogging through the park and Jevoney is in his house making tea. The way the character inside the house is dressed is as if he is getting ready for work. The differences between the two characters is that the man inside the house in the end we realise he is up to something when he receives the picture and money where as the runner is still quite normal, quite innocent and she doesn’t do anything to make the audience seem like she has done anything wrong.
The character who inspired me and my group to come up with the contrast is the man in
Jevoney: played the man in the house. Tobi: played the runner

What kind of media institution might distribute your mediaproduct and why? How will you attract/ adress your audience?
Our 2-minute opening to a thriller will be posted on my groups blog as well as screened in a cinema and watched by are peers. Theway are thriller will be distributed is if it is caught someone’s eye and they have posted it on YouTube or maybe another blog. Over our entire clip will be launched over the internet. As our clip is low budget it only appeals to those who were in our group and those who had the chance to watch it in the cinema. The originalaims when making the clip was to aim it at 15 to 25 years olds as they may find the story line interesting, even thecrime. Also those living in an urban area that can relate to it.
A way to advertise our clip apart from the internet is promoting it in magazines and school newspapers that are aimed at the age group said because they can look at it and can use it to help them if they ever had to make a thriller for there media project. Another way is Facebook, what we can do is make a group on face book or post our clip on to our page and hopefully are friends will look at it and spread the word to get others interested in our project. Another way is we could post our clip on YouTube or Vimeo and hopefully word of mouth could help advertises our thriller also.

Who would be the target audience for you media project?
This is the age group between the ages of 15- 25 as they are young and look like they are open minded on what sort of genre of film they like to watch. They are a group of boys and girls who our clip is aimed at because the girls can sympathises and relate to the girl runner and the boys will find the role of the man quite interesting, as he could be many things such as a kidnapper, murderer or an undercover spy.
The second picture is of urban teenagers who can relate to the stereotype of black people who are involved in crime as they themselves once may have been judged because of were they come from, the colour of there skin and by the way they dress.
We have aimed our clip at two different types of people as picture one, this group is not from East London but can get a gist of what
I have written aprofile of a person from each picture.
This is Darren, he is a college student and enjoys playing football, hanging out with his friends and watching scary films. Door 29 appeals to him because he likes suspense and not knowing what is going to happen next, also darren lives in east london so he can relate to our film. Also darren s into facebook and is also taking media as a A level in college.
This is Mandy, she is also in college and is studying media, she likes to hang out with friends and go shopping in the west end. Mandy also like thrillers as she likes to sympathise with the character that is in danger. She is also interested in Facebook and YouTube and has also made a thirller
What have you learned about technology from the process of constructiong this product?
While making editing our thriller we were able to use i mac's to edit, add sound and titles to our film as it contained all the programmes we needed to make our thriller perfect.
Final Cut Pro:
we use this to edit, shorten clips and use transitions to help our film flow.
Sound Track:
we use sound track to lay over music on to our film. Theres is many sounds you can use such a foot steps, clapping, birds churping and so on. Also you can increase the sound to make it stand out.
Live Type:
we use this to make our credits. You can create the text to suit and fit what you need to match you film, there is still text as well as moving text, which comes in different colours and sizes and you can also add a transition .
Blogger:
we used blogger to write evaluations of each product we made, as well as letting others know what we used and done to make our thriller.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you have learned in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at the preliminary task which has been posted on a seperate blog to our final product, there is a major difference. In the Prliminary task there is no tiltles or sound added, the editing isnt as good and there isnt much a range of camera shots. where as the time went on and we learnt how to use the programmes property our final product has come out very good compa
red to the priminary task as it has titles, sound, better editing and transitions added to it. So over all i have learnt how to use Live Type, Final Cut Pro, Sound Track and how to use a range of shots when needed.
Audience feed back and comment.
In our class another group gave me and my group feed back on what they thought of our film.

1) Choose one aspect of film language that has been used especially well in this movie an say why
The movie had really good variety of shots, close ups showing facial expressions, long shots used to show the full view of the person and the area. There was also good tracking shot used while the character was being introduced, Toby running in the park.
Although the sounds were good it didn’t really go smoothly together.
y stereotypes in this movie?
The girl who is rbeing watched running is a stereotype of a victim and the man in the house receiving the letter is a stereotype of a killer who gets paid to kill, he receives the victims details by letter from the post not showing the main person who wants the murder to proceed.
n running, shots showing his legs and pace of him running.
The audience for this movie would be 18-35 as its high paced and suspicious.

1) Choose one aspect of film language that has been used especially well in this movie an say why
There was excellent parallel editing which made the opening richer in contents. It grabbed the audiences attention and created a sense of urgency.
The man who receives a letter in the post is stereotypical contract killer who gets paid to kill a victim. The girl running seems like a regular innocent girl going for a jog.
rtextual references with any other movies when you watch this movie? Explain.
The opening is similar to Marathon Man because it starts with a character running adding a sense of pace to the film. It is makes the film unique.
I think this film has a broard target audience, mainly aimed at people at the age of 18 and onwards. It is for the audience type that like crime thrillers and story line which needs piecing together.

1) Choose one aspect of film language that has been used especially well in this movie an say why
The sound was very good. There
has been a good range of shots. Medium, long, tracking and close up shots.
The editing was done well to a nice use of parallel editing.
2) Choose one aspect of film language that could be improved in this movie and explain how.
I felt that the sound was good but didn’t really like the breathing sound. I felt it was a bit too exaggerated and added a creepy effect to a woman running.
3) Can you recognise any stereotyp
es in this movie?
No. none at all.
4) Can you think of any intertextual references with any other movies when you watch this movie? Explain.
Yes. The movie reminds me of the film marathon man. Because the clip is introduced with the main character running just the same way it was done in marathon man.
5) Who do you think would be the audience for this movie? I feel the target audience for this movie is older people. Ages 18 and over
6) Write down 5 words which would describe this film. Fast pace, parallel edit, suspicious, thriller and money
7) What sort of institution do you think would release this movie.
